Big Mike`s in Coastal Soutd Carolina

I was hoping to give a great 5 stars, based off of the crowd, but it left a lot to be desired. The line was out the door so we ordered online and was told it would be about 45 minutes. Unfortunately it took over an hour. The fried chicken was good, but dry. The mashed potatoes and mac and cheese were so salty you couldn't eat it. Maybe we just caught a bad day on a Wednesday.

Went here with some friends for the first time and very much enjoyed everything!The food was amazing! The service was great! I will definitely be going back again! That peach cobble was amazing!

It was great!!!. We are vacationing in Myrtle Beach and came across Big Mike's. It's great local food fried pork chops bbq ribs fried fish and great greens, Mac & ch. Potatoes, on more a must try if you are in the area. We will be going back

My wife and I had the fried fish. It was delicious. All the ladies that work here are very friendly and helpful. Fast service and hot food. The portions were big and it’s priced just right. We had a good experience here and we will be back. I highly recommend this place for sure.

Well worth the trip to taste the way southern food should be cooked with a happy to have you attitude served by all. The day I was there Big Mike was offering on the menu field peas a southern dish that I have not found anywhere else in a very long time. Fried chicken, fried whitefish, collards, green beans, candied yams and sweet cornbread just to name a few items. Topping the meal off with peach cobbler with icecream was a satisfying pleasure. Go by and eat at Big Mike's you will be glad you did!

I was told this place was awesome. It was said the food was smack your mama good. Well, its not all that great. The good stuff first. Service was great with a smile. Prices were good. Cole slaw, yams and greens good. The bad. The chicken had no seasoning. It didn't have that home cooked black pepper,seasoning salt, garlic, onion powder taste. The BBQ wings, sauce was blah. The worse was the Mac& Cheese.Where is the cheese. It was only on top. The peach cobbler was the worse I ever had.I hopeci just came on a bad day. I travel around the country and eat at as many black owned businesses as I can . Not sure if I will come back.

Great food fast service. Everything was delicious. Will definitely stop here again the next time I'm in town.

This was a whim decision that turned out to be a fantastic decision! The fish was fresh and perfectly done, the field beans were cooked to perfection, the Mac and cheese was amazing and not sour, and the yams! Oh the yams! Cornbread was so great, not dry, and the flavor was out of this world! Will have to visit this place again! And the staff here are super friendly and inviting!

So so good!!! Fried chicken is the best on the beach! There is also so many sides to choose from. Laid back and just really good food. Save room for the cobbler!! Service was great also!

I definitely recommend this Soul food restaurant!! Words cannot describe how delicious and mouthwatering the food and drinks are. We have been visiting restaurants since we are from out of town and all have been a disappointment. However, this just made the whole trip worth it! The staff was lovely and nice and assisted us as soon as we walked in. Every single piece of food we ate (Fried chicken, BBQ ribs, mac n cheese, EVERYTHING!!!) was to die for. Go and you will not regret it!

We just ate at Big Mike's while visiting from Indianapolis! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. We'll definitely stop by again.

After a disappointing meal the night before, I asked some coworkers for a recommendation. All 5 agreed Big Mike's Soul Food would be an amazing choice. If you like good, down home, southern cooking, this is the place to go. Great blue plate special: 1 meat, 3 sides, and cornbread for just over $10. The fried pork chops with mac n cheese, rice & gravy, and yams was amazing. 2 people for a great price, wonderful service, and amazing food. This is a must visit in Myrtle Beach.

I ordered the $14 seafood basket I did not get a single oyster which is advertised at all nw of the items in the basket. The fish stunk (was definitely old) and it was battered horribly. I got okra as a side and it was soggy. Hush puppies were cold. So basically paid $14 to eat a few shrimp and the rest went in the trash! Wait was also longer than I was told when ordering. Tried to call 5 times to speak with someone about it but no one answers.

Food is the beat soul food EVER! Service is AMAZING! The menu is very Versatile something for everyone! Our first time actually dining in and I will be back! You guys have new regulars! Love it!

The food is ALWAYS GREAT & The staff are ALWAYS the best!!We found this gem last year on vacation & we will be back every year we are in Myrtle Beach!!You will not be disappointed if soul food is your jam!This year I had the Philly cheesesteak, they do use cheddar cheese instead of swiss or mozzarella but it's still delicious!

My wife and I had lunch here while on vacation and OMG!! I haven't had home cooking like this since my great-grandma was alive! The collards were cooked to perfection, the field peas were fantastic and the fried pork chop was one of the best I've ever had! HIGHLY recommend this place!!

Yummy..Everything was cooked with love. You could tell. The Beignets were awesome!

Placed a order over the phone with a very helpful young lady. We got a couple of the seafood baskets and blts and they were both great. Blt was big and fresh. Seafood baskets have fried whitefish, shrimp and some of the best fried oysters ive ever had. Plus choice of many great southern food sides. They have the cheapest prices without going to fast food. I will definitely go back

The food was amazing, customer service was awesome. Corn bread yasssss!!!! Wish we had a big mikes in the DMV area, will definitely be stopping by here again next visit.

Reasonably priced and delicious, especially while on vacation! Ordered the smothered pork chops with 3 sides that come with an entree. Chops were tender with gravy and onions, the mac and cheese was kinda loose, but good, and the field peas and cabbage was just right. A line was coming out of the door, but moved quickly. Very friendly staff and Mr. Mike was actually there cooking! What a treat!!! We will be returning as soon as we get back to Myrtle Beach!

Now this place has some good soul food!!!! My wife had a fried porkchop smothered with rice & gravy, collards and yams. I did a veggie plate with collards, mac n cheese, field peas and yams. Being a vegetarian it was great to enjoy soul food because all the sides are cooked without meat yet still properly seasoned. Thank you!!! Everything was great! For dessert we had the cheesecake and peach cobbler which were both good as well. Highly recommend anyone local or visiting like us to eat here. Good food! Good service! Good time!

Really disappointing. Food was really good though. In fairness, they were busy and overwhelmed when I got my order. Ordered to be picked up at 6:00 pm and it was finally ready at 6:35. I ordered an extra $5.00 portion of ribs and it wasn't in the bags. I ordered a cheesesteak and it came with no cheese. I ordered extra onions on a salad and they put none at all. The food that was there was really good though.

Food was amazing. Chicken and waffles was on point (the waffles are already sweetened, I suggest you taste it 1st before drowning it in syrup). We went there early for lunch to avoid a crowded restaurant. Attentive servers. They all wore masks and gloves

The food and service were excellent! Very large portions. It reminded me of my grandmother's cooking. I had the blue plate special: chicken bog, mac and cheese, cabbage, and field peas (black eyed peas). My husband also had the blue plate: Fried pork chops, mac and cheese, yams, and mashed potatoes and gravey. Both plates came with yummy cornbread! Highly recommend! Will return on our next visit to MB!

Diamond in the rough. With the beach theme restaurants that are quick bites with no filling. Big Mike's is a home style, southern, home cooked feel, to go or casual dine in. Decent size portions for the same price you would pay 1 block over on ocean blvd.

Definitely recommend. Good service. Great people even greater food. Wish i could a had the chef to go. Absolutely delicious. Hands down the best food ive had in a while.

Big Mike's is THE TRUTH. I used Big Mike's to cater an event and everyone LOVED the food. They were on time, patient and accommodating to every need. I can't wait to actually sit down in house and enjoy more of what they have to offer. Next time I'm in town I know where to go for some good down home cooking.

BBQ ribs were dry but were seasoned and not overly sauced. Collards were seasoned and the Mac & cheese not enough cheese. The staff were very friendly and helpful when describing the menu. The prices are very affordable even when feeding a family of 4..

Its nice homemade soul food. There's different type of special everyday and you should try when you are in the area. I came in on a Thursday and the baked chicken/barbecue chicken was good.

Clearly a local favorite. Big Mike's offers the usual Southern fare: potato salad, baked mac and cheese, Cole slaw, greens etc. The Blue Plate Specials offer the best value on any given day. The service was slow though the usual crowds weren't there. It's also a family affair with Big Mike's son behind the counter. The main proteins make these meals: the fried chicken was very good; the chopped barbecue (pork) comes in a sweeter sauce than one would expect from Carolina barbecue. The store is also a fixture and sponsor of many community activities, as displayed on the walls. Big Mike happens to be the local council member. There's adequate parking. Parts of the restaurant are wheelchair accessible but not the restrooms. The restrooms are clean! They take all major credit and debit cards with identification and now have a loyalty program.

This is only my second time here and I love it! It was very busy but we got seated in good timing. Very friendly staff and great food specials. We got the blue plate special and the fried chicken was crispy and delicious and the green beans are the best I've had. They have delicious sweet tea too! I can't wait to come back and try something else! Really good southern food! Love it!

The staff was amazing and friendly. The place is very clean. The food is amazing.. I mean amazing! Proportions are great. My family and I went for lunch we took a to-go box home. The peach cobbler is to die for. Debit and credit cards are accepted. My husband and I had the blue plate special which is one meat three sides and cornbread. The hardest part was choosing which one you wanted to eat. The staff checked on us regularly. We are here on vacation...we most definitely will return here!!!it will be the first place we eat at!!!!!

The food was good...I gave 3 star's because they first forgot to put the 2 cheesecake orders in and the second was when we get back to the hotel our orders were wrong, but the food was good.

We were very pleased with Big Mike's! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We had a little wait for our food. But, that was because we were getting the food freshly cooked. My husband had fried pork chops, fresh collard greens, mashed potatoes and cabbage. Everything was good. We'll be going back.

Visiting from Florida and decided to try Big Mike's for my first taste of southern hospitality style food. It was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday evening to me. But we stuck it out and man was it worth the wait.The staff did an amazing job to deliver great customer service in a packed dining room. The food lived up too my expectations. I tried the fried fish and chicken with fried okras, mac and cheese, collard greens (my first). Very tasty meal, highly recommend especially for first time visitors like myself.
